Thanks to the San Jose Mercury News for suggesting this question: folks give some really wild excuses to try?
Q. to beat a speeding ticket, for example: "I'm a doctor and I'm late for surgery." Best excuse you can dream up gets 10 points---and it can be very spiritual! Not a "shill" for the Merc--just giving my source credit. Picky, or is it anal?

A. It wasn't quite an excuse, but I was in the car with a friend who avoided a speeding ticket as follows, Cop: Sir, do you know how fast you were going? Friend: (does Jedi mind-whammy gesture) You don't need to know how fast I was going. Cop: Sir, I'm going to have to see your license and registration. Friend: (does gesture again) You don't need to see my license and registration. Cop: (blinks and then realizes what my friend is up to) I don't need to see your license and registration. Friend: (does gesture again) The speed limit here is 35 [which it was]. Cop: The speed limit here is 35. Friend: (does gesture one last time) We can go. We should move along. Cop: (gestures for us to go, fighting back cracking up) You can go, you should move… [cont.]
