Does the Federal government have the authority to address the legality of abortion and similar "moral" issues?
Q. Constitutionally, does the U.S. Federal Governement have the right to rule on moral issues such as abortion & sexual identity/preference? At what point do these issues pass out of the purview of the home and into the legislative forum for legal decision rather than moral decision by the constituents and the states they make up?

A. The moral issues you cited, by category, should be deemed lifestyle preferences. As a non-lawyer, but as someone who has studied law, my point of view of this issue is that the state should only intervene if there is demonstrable harm present. Some say it should be merely harm, or potential harm, but that will never wash in front of our Supreme Court.
